Overview

Patent Bots is a profitable, bootstrapped company that provides tools for patent attorneys. Our tools automate tedious drafting tasks and provide key information to allow patent attorneys to be more productive and do better work. The CEO is a technical founder, and you will be the first full-time software developer in addition to the CEO.

You will play a vital role in our team, reporting to the Principal Software Developer. You will contribute to the development of our products by writing high-quality code and implementing features. Your role will also involve collaborating with the Principal Software Developer to ensure our technology aligns with business objectives and supports our growth.

Recent experience with building Python web apps is required. We need you to hit the ground running!

We are a 100% remote team and all qualified, U.S.-based candidates will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and Develop Products: Design and build scalable, reliable, and secure software systems that form the backbone of our business.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Work with the CEO to define the company's technical vision and roadmap.
  • Code Reviews & Best Practices: Establish and enforce coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices in software development.
  • Innovation & Problem Solving: Lead the exploration and adoption of new technologies, tools, and methodologies to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Hands-On Development: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, and contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement best practices for security and data protection, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • Technical Expertise: High proficiency in building Python web apps. Proficiency in full-stack software development including HTML, CSS, Javascript, and jQuery.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions.
  • Start-Up Mentality: Entrepreneurial spirit with a strong desire to build and scale products in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Drive: Desire to create awesome products that customers love.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Patents: Experience with patents or having been an inventor on a patent application is a plus.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with DevOps practices, continuous integration, and continuous deployment pipelines.
